WUNJO DESIGNS was born out of a love for creating fun, eye-catching identities, full marketing campaigns, signs, posters, and flyers/brochures. Being computer savvy, social media and website management became a part of my portfolio over 5 years ago. I’ve been involved in marketing, design and communication for over 20 years in some form or another across various industries.
Building a personal relationship with my customers allows me to understand their business, design and marketing needs. Some of my clients started with a clean slate and needed a full image and logo design, but knew the marketing pieces they needed. Other clients started with a great logo but didn’t know where to go from there. I have a keen eye for what works visually to a specific audience, and many years of know-how and practical experience to put the right marketing pieces into place. I am continually educating myself about the latest marketing trends and always updating my technical expertise.
I am passionate about excellence and “getting it right”. I’m not completely happy with a design or creation until you are and will work hard to make your vision a reality. While I specialize in fun and whimsical, I do create more traditional and modern designs.
What is Wunjo?
The word “Wunjo” literally means “Joy” and has made a full circle in my life. It was adopted as my signature in high school art class. Our senior project was to create this identity and use the theme throughout the year – we even did a marketing project for a product of our choice (little did I know that would come full circle also)! Although I still loved creating art and design, they were put to the side to pursue a ‘real’ degree; small-town inadequacies contributed to my lack of knowledge about a marketing degree. Years after getting a BS in Fisheries at the University of Washington (yes, that’s a ‘real’ degree), I accepted a marketing job where “cut and paste” literally meant cutting with scissors and pasting on paper. I still have fond memories of trying to keep everything straight while standing in front of the copier to create flyers for a local home builder. Later, I discovered card making and electronic paper crafts and shared my cards with loved ones and created 3D paper objects for all sorts of occasions. When I started volunteering to create a better poster and flyer campaign for my kids’ elementary school PTA, I discovered how much I simply loved working on my computer to create visuals for so many different activities and events and each poster seemed better than the last. It finally made sense to make my passion for graphic design and marketing a reality as my given profession. Somehow, forgotten for years, the name Wunjo found its way back to me and Wunjo Designs came to be.
